Many people are headed back east for the Thanksgiving holiday. It’s important to remember to be safe if you’re going to get behind the wheel this Thanksgiving weekend. This is especially true if you’re going to be in the Long Island area this holiday weekend.
Nassau, Suffolk and New York state police will be launching an anti-DUI crackdown beginning tonight and last throughout the holiday season. According to the Long Island Press, the night before Thanksgiving is one of the biggest bar nights of the year. While you’re reconnecting with friends and family this weekend, it’s important to be on the lookout for extra patrols trying to nab drunk drivers.
Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano is warning the public that police officers will be extra strict on drunk drivers this holiday season.
“Police patrols will demonstrate zero tolerance for individuals who are driving while under the influence of drugs and alcohol. Think before you drink this holiday and arrive alive… don’t drive and drive!”
If you do get arrested for a DUI this holiday season, don’t ruin your 2014 by spending time in jail or paying expensive fines. Contact a DWI lawyer to help you with your charges. You may be able to get your DUI charges reduced or dropped altogether with the help of an experienced DUI attorney.
Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving!
