Peter Carini is the founder of PJC LAW GROUP. He was born in 1962 in New York City. Since 1994 he has practiced criminal defense law in Oregon. In 2000 he focused his practice to DUI defense. His success and professional reputation at defending DUI cases is recognized statewide and nationally.
Oregon DUII lawyer Peter Carini is a recognized expert at DUI defense. He instructs attorneys in DUI defense at DUI conferences in and out of state. To our knowledge, Peter Carini attends more drunk driving conferences and related training than any other Oregon attorney. He is the only Oregon attorney who has completed the National Highway Traffic Administration’s Standardized Field Sobriety Testing Instructor course. He is also recognized throughout the country as being an expert in the National Highway Traffic Administration’s Drug Recognition Expert training. Mr. Carini is an owner and operator of the Intoxilyzer 5000 breath testing device manufactured by CMI, Inc. The Intoxilyzer 5000 is the breath testing device used in the State of Oregon. We are unaware of any other Oregon attorney who owns and operates this device. The manufacturer has gone to great lengths to keep the device out of the hands attorneys and will not sell the device to attorneys.

Oregon DUII defense attorney TERRY SMITH-NORTON
Terry Smith-Norton has been practicing law in Oregon since 1991. From 1992 through 1998 she worked as a public defense attorney for Southern Oregon Public Defender, Inc. During those years Ms. Smith-Norton's reputation for legal excellence was recognized by courts and the Jackson County District Attorney's Office.
In 1998 she was asked to prosecute criminal offenses for the Jackson County District Attorney's Office. She rose through the ranks of that office to its highest non-elected level. Terry Smith-Norton was given the responsibility of prosecuting sexual predators of children. In 2004, PJC LAW GROUP gladly welcomed Terry Smith-Norton into its ranks.

Oregon DUII defense attorney MICHAEL STANWAY THORNICROFT
Michael Thornicroft, a native Oregonian, was raised in Tillamook County. He started his public career in 1987 as a News Reporter and Disk Jockey for Portland radio station KGON 92.3. In 1992 he left radio to become Chief of Staff for Representative Margaret Carter during the 1992 Legislative Session in the Oregon House of Representatives.
Oregon DUII defense attorney Michael Thornicroft graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from Willamette University where he was Student Body President. He thereafter graduated from Willamette University Law and was again the President of the Student Bar Association.
He worked as a prosecutor for the Jackson County District Attorney's Office from July 1997 to October 2001. During that period he was lead counsel on over 50 jury trials and handled more than 300 criminal cases on a daily basis.
In 2002, Michael Thornicroft changed from prosecutor to teacher and television personality. From 2002 through 2005, Mr. Thornicroft was a Professor of Criminal Justice at Southern Oregon University. He was also the Main News Anchor for KTVL-TV NEWS 10 (CBS) until August 2005. In 2004 he was awarded 1st Place for "Best Feature" and 2nd Place for "Investigative Journalism" by the Oregon Associated Press.
Mr. Thoricroft is a member of the National College for DUI Defense; National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers; Oregon State Bar and Jackson County Bar.

Ronald Benckendorf
Ronald Benckendorf has been with PJC LAW GROUP since 2005. He lives in West Linn, Oregon. He is an expert at Department of Motor Vehicle License Suspension Hearings and police practices. He reviews every case heading for a contested case hearing for legal issues that will cause the motorist to avoid the Administrative License Suspension proposed by the Oregon DMV for a breath test failure or refusal.
Ronald Benckendorf was an Administrative Law Judge for the Oregon Department of Transportation from 1984 through 2005. In those 21 years he has presided over many thousands of license suspension cases and knows the "system" inside out. His insight is invaluable in PJC LAW GROUP's preparation for success at the License Suspension Hearing.
Prior to being and Administrative Law Judge with the Oregon Department of Motor Vehicles and later with the Oregon Department of Transportation, he was an Oregon State Police Trooper assigned as a body guard for then Oregon Governor Atiyeh. His career as an Oregon State Trooper began in 1973 and ran through 1984. During those 11 years he made thousands of DUI investigations and investigations. He is an expert in police sobriety tests of all kinds so he knows their value and weakness. This wealth of knowledge is invaluable to the successful outcome of many cases.
In addition, Ronald Benckendorf investigates cases, interviews witnesses, collects evidence and assists in trial preparation.
AARON L. OLYMPIUS
Aaron Olympius is on exclusive contract with PJC LAW GROUP as its investigator. He also is available to testify as an expert witness on the Intoxilyzer 5000 breath testing device, Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and Drug Recognition Evaluations.
Aaron Olympius has over ten years of law enforcement experience including seven years as an Oregon State Trooper, engaging primarily in DUII Enforcement. Prior to being a Trooper with the Oregon State Police, he was a Deputy with the Marion County Sheriffs Office for over three years.
Aaron Olympius served as a helicopter pilot in the U.S. Army and the Oregon National Guard for twelve years. His law enforcement training includes Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) Training, and he has served as a DRE/Standardized Field Sobriety Testing Instructor. Mr. Olympius was also a Deputy Medical Examiner, a Field Training Officer, and a Hostage/Crisis Negotiator for the OSP SWAT team. He also served five years with the OSP Mobile Response Team (MRT), and was a tactics instructor with the MRT.
