Boston DUI Facts – Good information for anyone who likes to have a drink

There are many DUI myths that you have probably heard over the years.  Hopefully, this article will clear some of those up for you so you do not have to wonder anymore.

The important thing to remember in regards to drinking and driving is not to do it.  A Boston DUI is not something you can just shrug off.  You will face fines, probation, having your license taken away, community service and even jail.  So the next time you are out drinking, be responsible so you don’t have to call a Boston DUI lawyer.

Below are some facts with regard to DUI:

·         Fact: If you are driving and have a low blood alcohol level, you have the same likelihood to be involved in an accident as a driver who has had nothing to drink.

·         Fact: Breath alcohol tests are an unreliable way to measure a person’s BAC since it differs depending on the situation and the person.  Impairment at low to modest blood alcohol content levels is very diverse in people and is caused by many different factors.

·         Fact: Those who consume alcohol on a regular basis are usually less impaired than someone who seldom drinks at a given BAC.

·         Fact: “Alcohol on the breath” is not a dependable indication of alcohol consumption because alcohol itself has no odor.  The odor that is typically noted when alcohol is consumed is actually the smell of the things that make up the alcoholic drink.  So, even someone who has a non-alcoholic beer will smell like they have been drinking an alcoholic beer.

·         Fact: Even after you have stopped drinking, your BAC will continue to rise from a half an hour to three hours.  A man who has had four or more alcoholic drinks in an hour or a woman who has had three or more alcoholic drinks in an hour will typically surpass the lawful BAC limit for Boston DUI for a prolonged period of time after they have quit drinking.

So, recall these tips the next time you decide to go grab a few drinks with your friends.  They may just keep you from getting a Boston DUI.  If you do ever need assistance with a DUI, contact a skilled Boston DUI lawyer to help you with your case!
